This turned out to be another comfortable win for the Juniors as they
dominated their opponents from the start and forced the Mercy rule
during the first half.
The Hornets started on offence
but on 3rd down, Andrew Steen picked off an attempted pass and ran in to
score from 6 yards. On the 1 point conversion, Ally Ferguson found
Steven Munro to give the Tigers a quick 7-0 lead.
On the next Hornets drive,
Andrew Steen picked off another attempted pass and ran it back to score
from 12 yards. On the 1 point conversion, Ally Ferguson again found
Steven Munro in the endzone to give the Tigers a 14-0 lead.
The next Hornets Offensive drive
was stopped quickly without making the 1st down and the Tigers offence
took to the field for the first time. 2 successive passes from Ally
Ferguson to Andrew Steen drove the Tigers to just outside the endzone
and a short pass from Ally Ferguson to Christopher Graham gave the
Tigers their 3rd TD of the game. A penalty on the Tigers 1 point
conversion forced the ball back to the 10 yard line.
It didn’t make any difference as
Ally Ferguson found Andrew Steen in the endzone for a 21-0 score.
Again our defence stopped the
Hornets and on their next drive the Tigers drove downfield and finished
the drive off with a 7 yard TD pass from Ally Ferguson to David McInally.
The Tigers opted to go for a 2 point conversion and on an option play,
Fraser Stevenson ran in from 12 yards out. This made the score 29-0 to
the Tigers.
The next Hornets drive was
quickly snuffed out as David McInally intercepted the ball and from 12
yards out ran it back to score. With the score now 35- 0, the mercy rule
was offered and accepted. |
