Who Are the Glasgow Tigers Flag Football Club?
In
2002 the WCO Scorpions merged with the Glasgow Tigers to become the WCO
Glasgow Tigers. Formerly known as the Strathclyde Sheriffs/ Posse, they;
the Glasgow Tigers, had a long track record as a formidable club within
the American Football community. While the East Kilbride based WCO
Scorpions were a flag football team run by members of the West Coast
Offense; a Scottish Claymores and American Football supporters club. The
Scorpions were formed in 2000 as part of the club’s
charter to promote the sport throughout the country,
Now known as Glasgow Tigers Flag Football Club we are seen as the feeder
for the Glasgow Tigers Junior, Youth and Senior Kitted teams.
The
Glasgow Tigers Flag Football teams compete regularly with others in the
Scottish Flag Football Association (SFFA) League.
Go top What is Flag Football?
Flag
football is a NON-CONTACT version of American football suitable for both
males and females aged 8 to 17 (Cadets Up to 12’s, Juniors 13 to 15’s,
Youths 16 to 17’s). It is also played by senior players of 18 and over.
The version played by the Glasgow Tigers is NFL 5on5 NON-CONTACT. Flag
football gives children the chance to be part of a team, make new
friends, and have fun while participating in an activity which
encourages teamwork, respect for others and fair play.
Go top Where Do We Fit In With The Glasgow Tigers
Our
link with the Glasgow Tigers gives children the opportunity to get
involved at all levels of American Football as they grow. They can play
flag from a very young age (7) and, when the time is right, move
up to Junior Kitted (14) then the Youth kitted team in their teens (16),
thus giving them a head start when they reach college and senior levels.
The Glasgow Tigers are seen to have “Academy” status, as they can offer
the opportunity to participate in American Football at all age levels.
