Game MVP Liam O'Connor picked by Bronco's
The Broncos opened in offence, moving the ball steadily through short dump offs until #54 broke through the defence and ran it in for a TD, from 19 Yrds out. They scored the 1 PAT on a short pass to #20. The Tigers failed to move the ball on their first set of downs. On the Broncos next possession they were short on third down, but secured the first down on the next play. A pass to #20 saw them secure their second TD before they converted a 1PAT on a pass to #81. On their next drive a combination of running and short passing plays saw the Tigers secure their first down, before a medium pass found Connor open for the TD. Brian just failed to connect with Adam, the 2PAT attempt being incomplete. The Tigers defence began to cause the Bronco’s problems, but again on their fourth down they managed to connect, via a 33 Yrd pass to #20 for another TD. Their 1PAT attempt was intercepted by Adam but he was tackled just over the half way line as he attempted the return. The Tigers began steadily moving the ball, before a 3 Yrd pass found Adam open for the TD. The 2 PAT attempt was no good. The Tigers failed to move the ball on their next possession, but the Broncos secured a further two touchdowns and 2 1PAT to pull comfortably ahead at the end of the half. They took their last possession with only 26 seconds on the clock, but some poor tackling let them in for the late score. #20 and #54 secured a TD and PAT apiece.

Half Time: Tigers 12 Broncos 34

The Tigers scored from their first possession of the half when Adam connected with Liam on a 19 Yrd pass for the TD, but the 1PAT attempt was no good.. The Tigers stopped the Broncos on their next possession and used a combination of running and passing to steadily move up the field before Adam again connected with Liam for the TD and Josh for the 1 PAT. The Tigers again stopped the Broncos ‘O’. With only 9 points in it and just over two minutes on the clock the Tigers went for it on their next set of downs. Adam found receivers open but they failed to pull in the important catch before the Bronco’s #20 picked off a pass intended for Darren, running it back into the Tigers half, before scoring the TD on the next play. Their 1 PAT was unsuccessful and ended the game.

Final score: Tigers 25 Broncos 40

COACHES COMMENTS:                                                                                                                   This match saw the Tigers lose for only the second time this season, again to the  A victory would have seen the Tigers secure a place in Finals Day, but they showed great spirit and determination in the second half, clawing their way back into the game.

Both Captain’s played despite carrying injuries, and this showed in their play throughout the first half. Adam’s positioning on defence was good, whilst Josh maintained his high standard of play in making great recovery tackles, but their loss of speed combined with poor tackling throughout the rest of the team let the Bronco’s slip through too often to score down the sidelines. Offensively, Brian was subjected to the Blitz through most of the first half, but remained calm under pressure, rolling out to avoid the sack and get the ball out. Liam demonstrated his ability to catch, pulling in some difficult balls and scoring two great touchdowns. This game, like the great ‘soccer’ cliché proved to be a game of two halves. The first saw the Broncos dominate, whereas the second half belonged to the Tigers.  The young Tigers fought for every ball and looked to be close to pulling off victory, when #20 once again proved his importance to the Broncos, with a timely interception and score that put the game beyond us.
